A work-in-progress of a shot I’m creating in my spare time.
Asteroid was sculpted in Zbrush, while the moon is simple sphere with a 16K bump map generated from a Lunar DEM.
The moon uses a shader with Oren-Nayar reflectance model (roughness) in order to get a more realistic and accurate look to it.
Animated in Maya, rendered in 4K with Mental Ray, with basic compositing in After Effects.
