I’ve been creating some Norwegian coins in 3D lately, and decided to record the process and make a timelapse video of it. First off I create a quick and rough bumpmap in Adobe Photoshop. Not really putting so much time into the details here, as they look perfectly fine when there are like 50 of them on screen. Then I model the coin in 3D using Autodesk Maya, and UV-unwrap it. Using Element 3D in After Effects, I make sure the bumpmap is working as expected, and I also do some previsualization and quick renders of how it looks in different scenarios. Here’s the result:

The reason I’m making the coins is for a personal project I’m doing on my spare time, which involves simulation and time warping.
